Calder Round Robin 1 v Airport West St Christopher’s

For the opening T20 of the Summer we travelled all the way to Airport West, started well by winning the toss and batting first on a what would be called a worn pitch. Shags and Dingo got us off to a good start with extras playing a big part in that, after we lost Shags (6) the two poms combined well and got us into a good position to launch. We lost Hywel (19) and myself (2) in quick succession and Andy (22) soon after but AT (39*) played a very well thought out innings hitting the bad ones to and over the boundary and putting pressure on the field with quick singles, he and Hutchy (12*) got us to 5/127 which on that pitch was very defendable in our eyes.

The bowling couldn’t of started better with first ball wicket to Dingo with the excellent hands of Trent to kick of proceedings we had them reeling with 3 quick breakthroughs from tight bowling and pressure in the field, Trent being involved in all 3 dismissals (2 catches, 1 Runout) and bowled fantastically, they got a couple of partnerships going but again pressure and attack in the field (Shags and Hutchy) brought about 2 more run outs. Jesse Rav bowled superbly finishing with 2/13 off his 2.3, I finished with 2, Hywel 2, GB 1 and the 3 runouts was really proud of the efforts by all the boys and hopefully we take this momentum and confidence into the next two games.
