DEVILS ABROAD

Today we are looking at the Great

TOM JONES

Across the 2 seasons of 2015/16 and 2016/17, one of our English imports was Tom Jones. A young Bowling All-Rounder, Tom spent his time at KPCC feasting on wickets. Picking up 54 poles at an average of just 14.57, the young quick always had a fire in his belly and was a competitive beast on the field.

Off the field, Tom was heavily entrenched in our Junior Program. Working with, and developing the skills of, the next generation of Devils, Tom was well respected for his knowledge and understanding of the game.

Recently, this Roaming Devil touched base with Tom to find out what he is up to back on the Motherland.

“I’m currently playing my cricket at Orrell Red Triangle CC, in the Liverpool Competition Premier League. We are mid table currently with a game in hand due to Covid, although there’s not many points between us, 3rd and the bottom half of the table- so it’s still all to play for. Personally it’s been a frustrating year on a bowling front, suffering with an ankle injury- but have managed to take 24 wickets for the first team in all competitions. I have really enjoyed playing more of a role in the middle order this year- and giving it a whack in some games. I’ve had a few 40’s and sit on 300 runs just past the half way mark. Hopefully my recent bowling form can continue for the rest of the season and I can contribute to the teams success and finish in the top 5 of the table which would be massive for us- something I think is a realistic achievement at the moment.”

The KPCC will watch on with interest as the Tom and the Orrell Red Triangle Cricket Club strive for success in the back half of their season.
