IAN MANSFIELD

The 2014/15 Season saw the KPCC reach the Semi Finals. The success of this season was, in part, due to the contributions of our International Imports. One of the vital cogs, and half of the Dynamic Duo, was Ian Mansfield.

A swashbuckling middle order batsman, and critically underused seamer, Ian made an immediate impact with 3 x scores above 40 in his fist 3 innings, including a 56 against a highly fancied Spotswood side.

It was in the Semi Final that Ian would finally be afforded the opportunity to unleash his inner bowler that he had spent a season trumpeting about. And results were instantaneous. Picking up a crucial wicket with his first ball for KP. Speaking to Ian about the wicket, he recalls the moment like it was yesterday.

“Swung in. Nipped away. Top of off. He played all around it. Great nut”.

We also spoke to Ian about his current happenings and about his KP experience.

Ian Mansfield chalks up a milestone for Cleethorpes CC

“A life changing six months for both myself and my brother with the best company and surroundings that two young English lads could have hoped for.

I have spent the last couple of years at different clubs, one in Tynemouth with my brother and then another for a side in York in the Yorkshire league with success for both sides. I have returned this season back to my roots and am playing for Cleethorpes and attempting to get them back into the Yorkshire league at the first time of asking and we are sitting top of the league with four tight games remaining.

My cricketing role has not changed an awful lot with my Saturdays still being a middle order batter that takes a liking to spin bowling and in my opinion an underused fast bowler.”
The KPCC wish Ian and Cleethorpes CC the best of luck with the rest of their season, and hope promotion isn’t far away.
